The “Hubli Champions” were on their first visit on 13th June 2009. It was an early morning excursion to the “Akshaya Patra” Akshaya Patra is a mid-day meal program. An initiative which is run in collaboration of Public-Private Partnership. We learnt that the kitchen here in Hubli, is one of the largest of the kitchens run by the “Akshaya Patra”. It is from this single kitchen, that today they are able to feed well cooked, hygiene and healthy food to almost one and half lakh school children everyday!!! in Hubli-Dharwad region. The standards maintained here are of international level. It was amazing to see the effort and dedication put into the task to reach out in such large numbers. The staff begins cooking as early as 5 am everyday and right from storing the grains to the point of consumption, all the steps are monitored and every small detail is double checked. Through the efforts of many people, spread across the world, today millions of children are assured at least one square meal in India. Akshara Foundation in Hubli is actively involved in providing elementary education to mainly  the school dropouts.  It encourages every child`s education. Their motto is “Every Child In School And Learning Well”.  They have made provision for libraries and computers in the slum areas of Hubli and Dharwad. This motivates the children dwelling in these slum areas to learn to read and write. They also have accelerated learning programs, which help the child to bridge the gap accordingly before he or she is admitted to any school. “Agastya Foundation” works for the grassroots education. It has it`s mobile lab set up currently at the  “Indira Gandhi Glass House”, Hubli. This is a very unique science lab, where in many of the school level science experiments are conducted with utmost ease. The lab is so well designed, that it facilitates children to visualise the solar system and phenomenons like eclipse  in a more practical and fun way."Solar System" Agastya`s Lab

Apart from this, there are many more interesting and fun ways of learning science in Agastya`s mobile lab. If you ever happen to come across any of the Agastya`s lab, then definitely make a short trip to one. It is worthwhile. 1. Nice simple language and easy to understand. Let us be a champion and make others to be champions together. Be an example for others rather do not refer others as an example. All the BEST!!!
